Kumamon Stage Shows at Kumamon Square Temporarily Suspended

If you were planning to catch a live Kumamon stage show at Kumamon Square in downtown Kumamoto City, you’ll want to hold off for now. As of July 29, 2026, the regular Kumamon stage performances have been temporarily suspended due to a pause in activities by the Kumamon Squad — the team of staff who bring Kumamoto’s beloved bear mascot to life at public appearances and events.

No specific end date has been announced. The organizers have stated that when the shows are ready to resume, they will share the news on their official SNS channels and website (kumamon-land.jp). If a Kumamon stage show is a priority for your visit, it’s worth checking those channels before you head out.

Kumamon Square, located along the Kamitori shopping arcade in central Kumamoto City, is still open as a free-entry space where visitors can browse Kumamon merchandise, take photos with Kumamon-themed displays, and pick up exclusive goods. The suspension affects only the live stage performances, not the shop or the general visitor space.

For the latest updates, follow Kumamon’s official accounts or check the Kumamon Square news page directly. We’ll update this article as soon as a reopening date is confirmed.
