The donation window runs until March 31, 2027 (extended from the original deadline due to continued public support).

Donating in Person

Donation boxes are set up at 15 locations across the prefecture, including the Kumamoto Prefectural Government building (1F Information Plaza), regional offices, and the Kumamoto Prefectural Art Museum. In-person donations are accepted on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at most locations; the art museum accepts donations from 9:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. (closed Mondays). Please note that large quantities of coins cannot be accepted.

Tax Deductions

Donations qualify for a tax deduction (寄付金控除) for individuals, and as a loss deduction (損金算入) for corporations under Japanese tax law. Your bank transfer receipt or Japan Post slip can serve as proof for your tax filing. For details on how much you can deduct, contact your nearest tax office (税務署). If you need an official donation receipt issued by the prefecture, download the request form from the Kumamoto Prefecture website, enclose it with a self-addressed stamped envelope (¥110 stamp), and mail it to the Health and Welfare Policy Division.

Donations can also be made through the Japanese Red Cross Kumamoto chapter and Kumamoto Community Chest. Every contribution helps earthquake-affected residents get back on their feet.
